Since the takeover of VMware by Broadcom, one change has followed the next. Many companies are not very happy about this. Smaller IT environments and service providers with lean structures in particular are coming under increasing pressure. The new requirements make the economic operation of classic VMware infrastructures unattractive for many SMEs in Switzerland.

From April 10, 2025, Broadcom will now require a minimum license of 72 CPU cores per customer for VMware vSphere Foundation. In addition, there is a penalty fee of 20% if the subscription is not renewed on time.

Virtualization without restrictions

For many companies, foregoing the technological advantages of VMware and switching the virtualization layer completely is not an option. However, the increasing restrictions of direct licensing hinder flexibility and put a strain on the budget.

Netstream offers an alternative here: a VMware-based Cloud from Switzerland - flexible, transparent and with no minimum purchase. Our Virtual Data Center (VDC) enables the familiar use of VMware technology - but as a fully managed environment with usage-based billing. You do not need to operate your own infrastructure or license it separately.

Advantages with Netstream Virtual Data Center

  • No minimum number of CPU cores
  • No long-term license agreements
  • No penalties for renewal
  • Private (dedicated infrastructure) and public Cloud (shared infrastructure)
  • Simple pay-as-you-go models
  • CAPEX and OPEX models
  • VMware-based environment in Swiss data centers
  • Certified security and personal support

Current VMware licenses? Migration without detours

For companies with existing VMware installations, we examine the current situation together. Whether complete migration to the Cloud or hybrid scenarios - we develop an individual solution that minimizes effort and costs while guaranteeing continuity. We can also review the transfer of existing license commitments to significantly simplify the migration.

Stay flexible

Broadcom's new license conditions make the direct use of VMware unattractive for many companies. If you are looking for more flexibility, transparency and security, Netstream is a reliable option - without having to give up the VMware technology you are used to. Are you interested?
