VMware's Zero Carbon Committed commits us to run our public clouds exclusively in data centers powered by 100% renewable energy by 2030. In addition, we are setting an example for low-carbon and sustainable solutions.
Since 2018, we have been operating our data centers and offices with 100% solar energy. We also do not rely on machines for cooling, but on cold from the environment. This type of cooling saves as much electricity annually as around 200 typical Swiss households consume per year. In addition to these permanent measures, we are always supporting new environmental projects. In 2019, for example, we planted 200 trees to help reforest the forest or took over the sponsorship of several bee colonies.
